Nail Art

Something that really interests me is how we can be creative in one way…. and a bumbling mess in another. I can’t draw to save my life… and by draw, I mean sketch/ paint or whatever. I could never be an artist. And yet I (think) I can write… and then there’s this little side project.

It’s a nice hobby, but I think it’s really interesting that I can do this, even paint on my left hand (I’m left handed and in no way ambidextrous), but can’t draw a picture of a scene or object right in front of me. Bizarre. People will ask me for… for example Spongebob Squarepants, or the very hungry caterpillar, however, and I will happily re- create them.

Someone once suggested I start building a portfolio of the different designs. They’re such one- off images, but I suppose a portfolio makes sense! Also it’s nice to see what people come up with.

The only trouble with it is that hand drawn designs are never going to a)look exactly the same, and b) will never be as accurate as those sticker transfer things you can now get.

Still, alongside the cartoon-y ones, I’ll create my own designs too.

Anyway, I just thought I’d put it out there as an experiment; if anyone has any ideas/ suggestions for characters or designs they would like me to attempt, email them through and I’ll give it a go and post it 🙂

Just a few examples here:
